Much like Halloween BOOing, ELFing is all about spreading holiday cheer! Grab these You’ve Been Elfed Christmas printables and attach them to a festive surprise for your neighbors and friends. We went with a hot cocoa theme for our ELFing baskets, something the entire family can enjoy.
WHAT DOES “YOU’VE BEEN ELFED MEAN”?
ELFing is all about spreading the Christmas cheer in your neighborhood. It is a bit like Secret Santa. ELFing is an anonymous gift, typically treats or trinkets, left on a doorstep by a neighbor or friend. ELFing instructions are typically left with the anonymous gift, encouraging the receiver to pay it forward and ELF another neighbor or two. The receiver also places a “We’ve Been ELFed” sign on their door to let others know that they’ve already been ELFed.
HOW DO I ELF SOMEONE FOR CHRISTMAS?
Print out the You’ve Been ELFed Christmas printables on white card stock paper. You can find them at the bottom of this post. Cut the tags out and punch holes at the top of each tag.
Gather your ELFing surprises. We decided to go with a hot cocoa theme for the entire family, but you can gift anything you’d like. We placed napkins, hot cocoa packets, peppermint marshmallows (Trader Joe’s), candy cane spoons (Dollar Tree) and gingerbread mug cookies (Trader Joe’s) inside a basket. Aren’t those cookies and edible spoons just adorable?! This gift basket theme would be great for teachers too!
Once you have your ELFing supplies, place them inside a basket and attach a “You’ve Been ELFed” tag. Place the printable “We’ve Been ELFed” and instruction sheet inside the bucket. Anonymously leave the gift on the doorstep of a neighbor who has not yet been ELFed.
